DUTY FREE FUELING

Regardless of pleasure/commercial status yachts are able to take on duty-free fuel in Turkey. The only condition is that upon completion of bunkering operations, the yachts must clear out of Turkish waters. Since there is one main distributor, the applications are made in the weekdays until midday for delivery the next day. Also the distance and destination is important for the delivery time. The delivery can be done at the weekends. The yachts must take the whole ordered amount. Otherwise, the penalties and resealing, official monitoring, and transportation back to refinery will cost considerably high. The complete duty free fuel amount supplied must be used out of Turkish Waters. Custom authorities may ask for an inspection of fuel onboard when yacht arrives back into Turkish Waters. If authorities verify that a large part of the fuel taken in Turkey has not been used out of Turkish Waters, high penalties shall be charged and the VAT of unused fuel must be paid.
